Cade Klubnik Pro Day involvement showcases leadership & sets Clemson’s 2025 expectations

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik

Cade Klubnik’s involvement in Clemson’s Pro Day wasn’t about showcasing himself—it was about demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and his commitment to the program as he prepares for a pivotal 2025 season.

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik took part in the Tigers’ Pro Day, but not in the traditional sense. Unlike other high-profile quarterbacks who use these events as a platform to showcase their skills in front of NFL scouts, Klubnik’s role was different—he stepped in to help his teammates shine. His decision to participate in drills and throw to draft-eligible teammates speaks volumes about his leadership and team-first mentality. This moment, though relatively understated, is indicative of what Clemson fans and analysts are expecting from Klubnik as he enters the 2025 season.

Klubnik’s Pro Day Contribution

Clemson’s Pro Day was an opportunity for departing stars like tight end Jake Briningstool and other draft hopefuls to demonstrate their skills in front of NFL personnel. Instead of standing on the sidelines, Klubnik took an active role in helping them, providing accurate passes and ensuring they had a chance to shine. Tight end Jake Briningstool acknowledged Klubnik’s efforts, stating, “Cade is a great quarterback, great player”.

While some college quarterbacks might have been focused on their own future at an event filled with NFL scouts, Klubnik’s decision to assist his teammates reflects his commitment to the program and his leadership aspirations. As Clemson looks to return to national prominence in 2025, that mindset will be critical to the Tigers’ success.

Evaluating Klubnik’s Growth

Cade Klubnik enters the 2025 season with high expectations. After a 2024 season where he showed flashes of brilliance but also areas for improvement, many believe this will be the year he truly cements himself as one of the top quarterbacks in college football.

Statistically, Klubnik had a solid 2024 season, throwing for over 3,600 yards and 36 touchdowns to only 6 interceptions while completing nearly 64% of his passes. However, there were also struggles—his decision-making in high-pressure situations came under scrutiny, particularly in games where Clemson faced elite defenses. Head coach Dabo Swinney has identified situational awareness as an area where Klubnik needs to improve, something that will be a focus in 2025. “There’s some things there I think he can improve on. He’s a kid that wants to complete every pass”, Swinney stated.

A Heisman Contender?

With another offseason to refine his mechanics and deepen his understanding of the offense, many analysts believe Klubnik could take a major leap in 2025. Some projections have him surpassing 4,000 passing yards with a 40:5 touchdown-to-interception ratio, along with over 350 rushing yards and additional scores on the ground. Those types of numbers would place him squarely in the Heisman Trophy conversation and make Clemson a legitimate College Football Playoff contender.

Brad Crawford of 247 Sports ranked Klubnik as the top returning quarterback in the country, stating, “If he continues his trajectory, he’ll be in the mix for QB1 status in the 2026 NFL Draft”. Given Clemson’s offensive weapons and a solid returning offensive line, the pieces are in place for Klubnik to have a breakout year.

Leadership

One of the biggest factors working in Klubnik’s favor is his leadership. His decision to return for another season, despite being eligible for the NFL Draft, demonstrates his commitment to the program. Klubnik stated, “I’m still hungry for what I know this program has,” showing that he believes Clemson has unfinished business.

Additionally, Klubnik’s leadership extends beyond just words. His involvement in Pro Day was a microcosm of his approach—prioritizing team success over individual accolades. That kind of leadership is invaluable, especially for a program like Clemson that is looking to reassert itself among college football’s elite.

A Defining Year Ahead

With improvements in decision-making under duress against the higher level competition, continued development in his dual-threat ability, and a strong supporting cast, Klubnik has all the tools to make 2025 his best season yet. If he reaches his full potential, Clemson fans could be witnessing the rise of one of the best quarterbacks in program history.
