Bulldogs’ 2025 wide receiver depth analyzed.
Freshman wide receiver Tyler Williams, a four-star recruit from Armwood High in Seffner, Florida, will be sidelined for an extended period after suffering torn ligaments in his ankle. The injury required surgery, and Williams is expected to miss the remainder of spring practice as he begins rehabilitation. Meanwhile, Georgia’s wide receiver unit received a boost with the full reinstatement of senior Colbie Young, who had been suspended for the latter half of the 2024 season.
Freshman wide receiver Tyler Williams, a four-star recruit from Armwood High in Seffner, Florida, announced via Instagram that he suffered torn ligaments in his ankle and underwent surgery on Monday. Williams is among six early enrollee wide receivers for Georgia, including fellow freshmen CJ Wiley, Talyn Taylor, and Landon Roldan.
Williams’ Injury Timetable Uncertain
The typical recovery timeline for torn ankle ligaments varies, but athletes often require several months of rehabilitation before returning to full activity. This injury will sideline Williams for the remainder of spring practices, and his availability for the start of the season remains uncertain.

Head coach Kirby Smart confirmed Young’s return, stating, “Colbie is with us. He’s practicing with us, he’s cleared.”
Before his suspension, Young played in five games last season, recording 11 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns. His return adds veteran leadership to a receiving corps that features both experienced returnees and highly touted newcomers.
Georgia’s Revamped Receiver Room
To bolster their receiving corps, Georgia has been active in both recruiting and the transfer portal. The Bulldogs signed five wide receivers in their 2025 recruiting class and added three more via transfers. Notable additions include Zachariah Branch from USC and Noah Thomas from Texas A&M. Branch, known for his explosive playmaking abilities, and the 6-foot-6 Thomas are expected to make immediate impacts.
Returning talent includes senior Dillon Bell, who brings experience and leadership to the unit. Other contributors are London Humphreys, Nitro Tuggle, Sacovie White, and freshmen Talyn Taylor and CJ Wiley.

- Zachariah Branch – Junior transfer from USC, expected to be a primary playmaker.
- Noah Thomas – Senior transfer from Texas A&M, brings significant size and red-zone threat.
- Colbie Young – Reinstated senior, physical presence with experience.
- Dillon Bell – Senior returning starter, reliable target with experience.
- London Humphreys – Junior with potential to step into a larger role.
- Nitro Tuggle – Sophomore with impressive high school accolades, looking to transition smoothly to the collegiate level.
- Sacovie White – Freshman known for his speed and agility, could contribute in special teams as well.
- Talyn Taylor – Class of 2025 composite 5 star top 25 freshman early enrollee, looks to gain valuable reps during spring camp.
- CJ Wiley – Class of 2025 composite 4 star top 100 freshman early enrollee, looks to gain valuable reps during spring camp.
The Bulldogs’ coaching staff should be extremely optimistic about the depth and talent within the wide receiver group, despite Williams’ setback. The influx of new talent, combined with experienced returnees, positions Georgia’s offense for a dynamic aerial attack in the upcoming season.
